July 6, 2000: The updated version of the site is now up and running! I have added a new 2300AD Live Chatroom and have placed all of Dan Schirren's wonderful colony and outpost maps online (for your online viewing pleasure. Now that I'm done with my first year of grad school, I'll have more time to devote to more 2300AD GG2 ponderings and development. If you notice any bad links, send mail to me. Thanks!
May 3, 1998: The updated version of the site is now up and running! Thanks!
July 31, 1997: Finally, the draft of Econ Model version 5.0 is up! I've added about 21 countries that weren't covered in the Earth/Cybertech Sourcebook and all stats. However, the only thing I haven't entered are descriptions of the countries. I'll get around to that soon (I would have waited to send a finished file but I'm moving tomorrow, taking my computer down, and won't be able to update anything for a week!).
May 22, 1997: I've added John McClure's Quick Map of Human Space, an subway-style map that is a bit easier to read. I've also updated John's fabulous NearStar File with his latest version!
May 10, 1997: Here they are! Dan Schirren's fantastic planetary maps, star-system diagrams, and list of colonies, outposts, and enclaves! (UPDATED using 8-character names) If you're like me, you'll be admiring these for days. Even if you have no interest in the Grand Game II, these items will surely add flavor to any campaign on any planet or outpost in the 2300AD universe. Since Dan has so kindly named some previously un-named colonies, I will update that aspect of the 2300AD Economic Model shortly.
April 15th, 1997: Now available...Stephen Hefford's 2300AD Star Cruiser/NAM Ship Hull Design program. Make sure and read the text file that is attached.
April 6th, 1997: I have set up my own crude Kafer Political Map. As for the other maps, I'll set them up as I receive them from Dan and Alex. These maps will be a strain on my available web space, so I will eventually set all of them up as a zipped package. For now, I will do everything I can to set them up on the site.
March 27th 1997: I've added John McClure's great NearStar File to the page. It is a nice Excel 5.0 file that arranges the 2300AD nearstars in a more logical manner than I've seen before...
March 26th 1997: Straight from the 2300AD Econ Model, here is the 2300AD Compensation Guide. So far, I've only computed values for the Earth nations. This chart basically provides information about wage differences in different countries by type of job.
March 15th, 1997: The Official Economic Model is now complete and up for downloading. I have taken the suggestions and information from all of you over the past month and have made a few minor adjustments since the Draft. These changes have affected the santa Mariacolony on Tirane (it's gone) and the Canadian Doris colony population. Thanks for your help!
March 9th, 1997: I've finally updated the files for 'The Game', courtesy myself and two sheets by Kevin Clark. Many of the spreadsheets have been linked into the actual write-up in the Word document but a couple of sheets were too big (keep the two files in the same directory to maintain the links). There are nine pages of blank counters that you can fill in with pictures, prices, and other numerical information from those sheets not pasted into the Word document. Ooops! Sorry, but for now you'll have to draw the pictures yourself.
March 8th, 1997: A GUESTBOOK has been added to the page. Please take a moment to sign it and leave feedback on anything related to the pages. Also, if there is something you'd like to see, send mail to stalexone@mindspring.com .
February 18th, 1997: I've finally set up the final draft of the 2300AD Economic Model based on the Earth Cybertech Sourcebook and various extrapolations by John Bogan and myself. Please take an opportunity to download and critique the numbers so that we can clear up any oddities. Extrapolations from these numbers are being used to formulate the Points System for the upcoming Grand Game II, so here's your chance to contribute.
February 11th, 1997: After receiving the rules for GDW's 'THE GAME' over the weekend, I've typed them up and HTMLized them for the site. In the meantime, you can download them in Microsoft Word 6.0 format. It will take a bit longer for me to create the charts, tables, and maps because they aren't readable after scanning. Check back for updates over the next two weeks.
February 4th, 1997: I've added the Australian Fleet Analysis to the website. Courtesy of Wade Racine.
February 1st, 1997: Marc Miller has just infomed me that he has located the original rules set for 'The Game'. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it was the original set of rules used to advance the Twilight 2000 universe to 2300AD. It was played as a large geo-political simulation and is the basis of the Grand Game II effort. As a result of this major find, we'll be playing sooner rather than later!! I should be receiveing a copy by Tuesday and will make every attempt to have it posted by February 8th.
January 12th, 1997: The 2300AD Official Economic Model for the Grand Game II is almost ready (finally!). Check the population breakdown link for frequent updates as we head into the final stretch). While the values may eventually change, the relative ratios will likely remain the same.
January 7th, 1997: It's been long year. Starting in May of 1996, I set full speed ahead on extracting usable information from the 2300AD sourcebooks in order to develop a comprehensive and useful economic model as a basis for the coming Grand Game II. By mid-July, I had most of the data in hand as well as a very crude version of the model. After lots of discussions about the numbers generated and many calculation tweaks and new information, I will be rolling out the final version in early February 1997. The model is more accurate than ever and I hope that all of you will be pleased with the results. My next venture will be to create a similar model for the Kafer Sphere. Hopefully, from the experiences gained from the first model, this will not take nearly as long...
